I sit here with my Sam Adams because tomorrow, I have to work. Tomorrow also happens to be the first day of UMASS band camp which I will not be attending this year. After being around bands for 13 or so years, I have "retired". It doesnt seem like it should really be that big of a deal but think about it this way...
When I started doing band stuff, I was 7 years old. I'm now 20.
I started playing drums when I was 8.
When I started doing this stuff, George Sr. was the president.
The sign, by Ace of Base was the hit song.
D 2: The Might Ducks came out.
So I guess what I'm really trying to say is that a little bit of me has died. Yes, I will be making more money because I will be working more. I also won't miss the fabulous rehearsals of being yelled at. But saturday nights when the lights on the field come up, and I am nowhere to be found on the field... then there will be a hole. Something that for right now, can't be filled. I don't think that it's something that I will never do again. It's just at this point, I'm ready to try something different.
Right now I am at risk of turning this into an emo-blog which is exactlly what I was avoiding.
So-long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, good night.
