Will you marry me?

Who would have guessed that seven and a half years ago, we would be here. It wasn't until recently that I was sure of what I was doing.

On August 17, 2007 I asked my girlfriend of seven and a half years to be my wife. First Encounter beach in Eastham Massachusetts has always been a special place for us. At low tide, the water goes out for what seems like miles. We usually look for shells while we walk on the beach, so what better way to propose than by putting the ring into two scallop shells. I suppose it was rather unfortunate that there were no shells on the beach this time. The one that I pulled out of my pocket was somewhat out of place. Not only was it the only one on the beach this particular night, it was the only one with a diamond in it.

"Hmm... that's funny... I have never seen a closed scallop shell before." Ok, so I think that's what I said. I am not too sure because it was a rather terrifying experience. At this point there was no turning back, and I mean what if we were at the off shoot moment when she said no. Yes, yes I know what you are thinking. "After seven years there should be no doubt." There wasn't any doubt. Ask any person that has proposed and they will know what I am talking about. After this point, I can't for sure tell you exactly what happened. I know there was a little bit of tears ( joy of course ) and then "yes" somewhere along the lines.

We are planning on getting married in the fall of 2009. Hopefully, if everything works out, we will be going back to the cape to get married there. We have looked at a few places and fell in love with two of them. The only task now, is to narrow down to which place we want to go to... and plan everything else of course.
