Its common to use Derp when a moronic comment or action has been uttered or performed.
Carrie - "Yeah Amy, turn on the air conditioner, it will defrost the windows."
(There is an awkward silence, because the last statement was incredibly brainless. Then...)
Mike - "Uhh, derp."
Deb - "Drumline, do you guys need new Beat 70 music?"
Drumline - "Yes."
~ 20 minutes later and missing half of the new music ~
Drumline - "Derp second page Deb."
A classic example of "derpification" would be as follows:
"I derped my car into a ditch last night. I went back the next morning to get some pictures so the insurance compant would not derp me in the ass."
or scenerio number 2
"I was driving my lady friend back from a derpin' party and she wanted to derp. So we started to derp and everything, and then I must have closed my eyes for a second and the next thing I knew.... I was derped in a ditch."
Watch me hit myself with this running chainsaw.(Cuts his arm off). Owie, that hurt! DERP!
Derp is rather versatile. It can be used as a verb such as, "I derped that idea." It also is a very good noun, "Our President is a derp." Troglodyte is also a good word to use in that last example, but thats a different story.
Derp is not going away anytime soon. If you havent used the word, you should start today. Go out and derp something.
